Black fittings

You will have noticed the recent tapware trend - black fittings!!! They are striking! They are bold! They are versatile!

So lets take a moment to discuss the pros and cons to see whether you are bold enough to go down that path!

Pros

They are very on-trend. A lot of the home reno shows on tv showcase black taps and fixtures/fittings. This also makes them very easy to order.

They are competitively priced. Usually something very popular is more expensive, but the price of black taps etc are very comparable with the chrome.

When used with marble and natural textures (stone and timber) they stand out! They look rich and exquisite, without the price tag!

Unlike Chrome, black tapware hides the finger prints and water marks.

Cons

Being a trend/fad, chances are over the next 5-10 years this trend will pass and be outdated. Unlike chrome which appears to be timeless.

Black fades. You need to take more care in the cleaning of the tapware and fittings and you cant use harsh chemicals to clean them. You should only use a mild soap and water together with a soft microfiber cloth to clean. Norwex cleaning cloths would be ideal

Summary

You know what? If I chose to renovation my bathroom right now, I would go black! It stands out and has the wow factor. If down the track I wanted a change, it really wouldn't cost too much to switch them over.
